2025 IECF Scholarship Fund and IECF EmpowerHer Applications

This singular application is for both the IEC Foundation scholarship, and the EmpowerHer scholarship.

The purpose of the IEC Foundation Scholarship Fund is to provide annual need-based scholarships to further the academic goals of students that are in an IEC-approved apprenticeship program or similar post-secondary education.

Scholarship award amounts vary and are to be used for tuition and/or books. Awards for each scholarship winner will be paid directly to your IEC training center/college for your benefit. Awards will be awarded in the following categories:
  • Craft – Students in an IEC-approved apprenticeship program.
  • Baccalaureate – Students pursuing a baccalaureate degree in fields associated with the electrical industry.
  • Continuing college education for journeymen part-time college students who are employed full- time by an IEC contractor member may be eligible for a scholarship if they are studying toward a degree relative to the electrical industry.
Applicants to The IEC Foundation Scholarship Fund must be:
  • A high school graduate (or GED Equivalency);
  • A U.S. citizen, or are legally living/working in the United States;
  • Apprentices enrolled in an IEC-approved apprenticeship program, or
  • Students enrolled in a full-time college program (12 or more credit hours) pursuing a degree in the electrical industry; or
  • Journeymen enrolled part-time in a college program (less than 12 credit hours) AND working full- time for an IEC member and pursuing a degree in the electrical industry;
  • And, sponsored/employed by a member of the Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC)
EmpowerHer Scholarship Criteria:
  • Each applicant must meet all of the IEC Foundation Scholarship requirements.
  • Academic excellence
  • Applicant must identify as female
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Commitment to pursuing a career in the electrical industry
  • Demonstrated leadership potential within the electrical field.
  • Commitment to advancing opportunities for women in the industry.
  • A focus on personal and professional empowerment in alignment with IEC Foundation’s mission.
EmpowerHer Scholarship Goals:
  1. Promote gender diversity and inclusion in the electrical and construction industries.
  2. Support the professional growth of women, empowering them to pursue and succeed in electrical careers.
  3. Recognize women’s contributions to the electrical field and elevate their role in shaping the future of the industry.
  4. Encourage continued education and advancement for women, helping them to reach new levels of professional development.



CRITERIA FOR SELECTION

The selection committee will evaluate each applicant according to criteria established by the IEC Foundation. The criteria generally focus on a combination of the student’s academic merit, interest in the electrical industry, letter of recommendation from sponsor, the description of student and why this field was chosen, and community involvement, as shown below. The personal data listed on the front sheet will not be furnished to the selection committee, so it is a blind selection process.
